Sharlot Bott

Biography

Sharlot discovered West Coast Swing nearly three decades ago. In the span of her dance career, she has become an accomplished West Coast Swing Dancer. Sharlot is driven by her passion for dance, her love of music, and complete affection for the power and physicality of movement. Others have described her style as “timeless and inspirational.” As a Professional West Coast Swing Champion Dancer, Teacher, and Community Leader she commonly wears different hats; teaching workshops, judging, coaching students, competing, social dancing, dj-ing, and enjoying friends. On this dance journey she is fortunate and grateful to have amazing and gifted teachers, inspirational mentors, talented partners and community supportHer desire is to maintain the foundation and integrity of West Coast Swing while embracing its growth and new directions.

Honors and Service

Some of her honors include multiple National Titles in Showcase, Classic, Champion Strictly Swing, and Champion Jack and Jill competitions. She is a recognized Inductee into the California Swing Dance Hall of Fame, the World Swing Dance Council Hall of Fame, recipient of the “Feather Award” and “Walk of Legends Award”. She was a featured aerialist in the movie “Shout”. Sharlot is an original US OPEN investor and shareholder, she and her late husband Wayne served as members of its Board of Directors from 2002 to April of 2009 giving their heart, ideas, wisdom, and skills. Today she serves on the NASDE Board of Directors as the US OPEN representative. She also serves on the Board of Directors as Vice President for the California Swing Dance Hall of Fame

Credentials

Sharlot Completed her teaching and judging certification in 1992 through the Golden State Dance Teachers Association (GSDTA). She is a certified master instructor of “The Skippy Blair Universal Unit System.”
